We pride ourselves in providing excellent PCB assembly services to our clients and ensuring we exceed their expectations far and beyond. PCB assembly is a crucial step for companies that use printed circuit boards in their products.

We can give suggestions and guidance on setting up your PCBs during assembly for excellent performance if you have a new design. Our team of experts will be at your disposal to ensure that you get the perfect prototype for your new PCB design.

Here are some of the best features of Geospace PCB assembly services.

Prototyping and the Assembly Process

The assembly process begins with a prototype where our experts review the design files for sourcing needs, manufacturing requirements, and lead times before performing a simple audit on the design. Clients get a report indicating any suggested changes and everything necessary for your order’s SMT assembly.

Upon your approval, process and build documentation go to Quality Control for secondary approval before the files move to the Manufacturing department. All components from our sourcing partners get an inspection to ensure they are in working condition. The absence of faulty parts at the PCB manufacturing process increases all end products’ odds of going through the functional process quickly and smoothly.

A thermal profile for client PCBA is added to the system, and modifications may occur to account for variations and ensure perfect end products. All designs need a stamp of approval before the manufacturing process begins. We perform such a thorough analysis of design files to calibrate machines and increase the odds of getting a perfect prototype within the first few trials.

The manufacturing process starts with an inspection of all electronic components to ensure they have the correct settings. A prototype PCB assembly is completed, and multiple verification checks confirm whether the prototype meets client requirements or not. If not, necessary adjustments are made, and the process starts over again.

Prototype checks include:

  • 3D paste inspection
  • 3D AOI
  • Electrical tests using a flying probe
  • 100% X-ray on leadless or concealed solder joint components
  • 100% visual inspection under 10x–20x magnification
  • Any additional PCB design and functional testing a client requests

Once the surface mount PCB designs pass all tests, the prototyping process is complete, and our team can move to the manufacturing phase. Clients will get the chance to see the prototype’s performance in various tests to see what they are getting from Geospace’s team of experts.

Electronic Assembly Process

The electronic assembly process is an essential part of PCB assembly processes and is responsible for the timely manufacturing of circuit boards. The first step our technicians take before the assembly process is an order overview. A quick check into the solder paste, flux type, design files, and parts gives technicians a rundown on the project’s details.

Our experts prepare an assembly of documents to ensure all steps are followed:

A 3D design using surface-mount-technology stenciling aids in the solder paste stenciling process. The design is then fed into our automatic stencil printer for the manufacturing process.

Experts also input the optimum thermal profile for each side of the PCBAs. Several inspections, including visual, automatic, and x-ray inspections, confirm that each circuit board meets the set standards.

After the PCBA, circuit boards undergo a machine wash with deionized water and whatever cleaning specification the client requests. Clean boards get through-hole component insertions from the selective soldering machine, and the circuit boards are ready for final testing and inspection.

The final testing process seeks to ensure that the final products meet the client’s quality and design requirements. And a final quality control inspection establishes that the PCBs are top-notch quality and free of any design flaws. An electronic flying probe and functional test gauge the products’ performance. PCBs that pass the final tests are ready for shipping to the client at the earliest convenience.
